Have you always wondered how companies choose their brand names? What is the process that goes in to coming up with the name, logo etc.? We asked the team behind the branding of Bragadoo to give us a little insight in to how it all came about.
So – what’s in the name Bragadoo – from the Branding Team at Mix Marketing Group:
- Feedback and gut, later confirmed by research, told us that people prefer to hire service providers that are recommended and trusted by friends & family – especially when it comes to services in and around the home and family.
- Working from “Trust & Recommend” we wanted to create something that was a little more fun and interesting. Our goal was to create a personality for the company that people would want to interact with and talk about.
- After wearing out the Thesaurus, we kept coming back to the term brag. It summed up what we want people to do – and offered a lot of flexibility to add extensions that were fun and interesting. But is it ok to brag? Is there a negative connotation with it? As wrestling around with those concerns, we concluded that it’s only negative if you’re bragging about oneself, not if bragging about and supporting others. We liked that it was something used in everyday language, yet not utilized by other brands and that it was action oriented and extendable (i.e. bragworthy, etc).
- Once we settled on the term brag, our mission was to create the name. We wanted a name that conveyed the concept, was positive, was an easily adaptable made-up word (i.e. slang), action oriented, fun and extendable.
- An inspiration hit us one day while brainstorming in a coffee shop. We were talking about how we really want people to “crow” about providers who do good work…which led us to say Brag-a-doodle-doo! That’s a bit of a mouth full…but when we scaled it back to Bragadoo, we were sold. The inspiration also provided us with our mascot/icon – the rooster. And the rooster crown (which is officially called a “comb” or a “crest”) is what is used as the “brag” symbols for Service Pros that people brag about.
- The natural extensions like the icon, the crown and phrases like brag-a-doodle-doo, bragworthy and Bragabout, helped reinforce that we had a winner. Everything other concept direction prior to landing on Bragadoo, didn’t flow so naturally and offer the same fun, friendly (and maybe a bit quirky) personality that we were trying to achieve.
“We’re really pleased with where we landed and the visual brand the concept allowed us to create. To-date, the reaction has been extremely positive. We hope to see that same positive reaction from consumers across the country as Bragadoo launches.”
- Kassi Clark, Mix Marketing Group.
